Video Surveillance Systems

Security Cameras or Surveillance System?
Almost everyone has seen a security camera but most people do not know what is on the receiving end of that camera.

Security cameras are typically connected via CCTV ( Closed Circuit TV ) which means that the video, and at times audio, is seen live on a connected monitor. The viewing can be recorded and saved on a DVD via an attached DVR ( Digital Video Recorder ).

A video surveillance system is similar in that it uses cameras and are normally wired to a central location. The difference is that the viewings are recorded on a computer hard drive via a NVR ( Network Video Recorder ) and can be seen with an attached monitor and also can be viewed remotely as the NVR is connected to the Internet.
